Economic problems of the Olympics

Immense sport events such as the world cup and the Olympics are seen as a powerful economic source for the country that is hosting it. Yet, there presence always involves enormous costs. These full-sized events can bring over 10,000 people for the month of the duration. This brings an enormous money income for hotels, restaurants, parking lots, etc. When the games are finally over all those touristic places are empty and they can get into bankrupt. Another unpleasant aspect of the Olympics is the tremendous cost for stadiums, security, and housing. Even after the games are over the doubt will continue and will lead to higher taxes on the city. In conclusion the Olympic Games just bring highly prices to the city hosting it.

Hosting the Olympic Games

Many people just watch the Olympics every four years and enjoy it. The Olympics is not just the event, is the complete progress of the event. It includes the planning, construction, and facilities for the city, and all of this concludes to a money pit. Yes, during the Olympics the city economy grows but this doesn’t pay all the costs that they had to pay. For example Montreal that hosted the Olympic Games at 1976 has just finished paying the stadiums. The cause for this money depression is mainly the stadiums, the sport venues and the housing facilities. Although the Olympics are a great marketing tool, it doesn’t pay the costs. The Olympics are not more than just a money expending event.
